Progression onto Wider Key Skills Qualifications

Are you moving your young people onwards and upwards?

You can now accredit Wider Key Skills (& therefore gain points!) through the Chrysalis - Club 2000/ASDAN programme.

When a young person has begun to re-engage with education it’s important for them to be able to progress from the Bronze Award onto a higher level qualification. They may be ready to gain a Key Skill Qualification, not only to raise their own self esteem but also to benefit of the educational establishment. Senior managers are always keen to illustrate the impact of alternative educational programmes on the Attainment and Achievement (SCAAT) Tables !

The specially designed Wider Key Skill resources, available through Chrysalis-Club 2000, support Key Skill accreditation at Level 1/Level 2, giving a progression route for those young people currently functioning at Entry Level 3. The Wider Key Skill qualification at Level 1 has a value of 18.8 points – equivalent to two thirds of a GCSE at D-G. (this score increases for Level 2 achievement). For those who are performing at Level 1 the writing frames support the young person through the entire process and virtually guarantee a successful outcome when the folder is externally moderated through ASDAN.

After only 24 hours on task the Wider Key Skills challenges can, if you wish, be double accredited for the “U” Choose programme, thus providing a safety net for those who are in the GCSE D-G band. Many of these young people need additional support in order for them to move up the ladder and experience success and they need to experience success at the end of a short term target. Achievement will boost the young person’s self esteem and help them aspire to gain a second Wider Key Skill Qualification in another 24 hours or so.

Training Day Costs are £140.00 +VAT per person.

Remember there is an option for a special rate if you arrange for the Wider Key Skill training to be held at your own venue if you have 8 or more people to be trained. The Wider Key Skill Resource Packs cost £190 +VAT. They contain a CD of resources so that you can select your own challenges and then print off the all the various writing frames that you require.
